At its last session this Monday, the National Council for Information and Computer Technology reviewed and adopted the Cybersecurity Strategy 2018-2022 and the Open Data Strategy 2018-2022 with an action plan.

Only last week, the Ministry of Information Society and Administration, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Macedonia presented the final draft version of the National Cybersecurity Strategy of the Republic of Macedonia.

Strengthening the national capacities for tackling cyber risks and improving cybersecurity on a national level is of topmost importance for the Republic of Macedonia. The National Cybersecurity Strategy of the Republic of Macedonia is a strategic document that should serve as a beacon on the path to developing a safe, secure, reliable and resistant digital environment, supported by quality facilities that are based on trust and cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.

The Open Data Strategy defines strategic goals which will encourage publishing and using open data in order to increase the transparency and accountability of the state institutions, to increase the quality of the services they offer, and at the same time to promote innovations. That will contribute to economic growth and development of the society as a whole.

The Government of the Republic of Macedonia recognizes that open data can be a huge drive for social and economic development and it can be used to improve management through increasing the transparency, openness, integrity and participation of the public in the central and local government.

The Government of the Republic of Macedonia will adopt the two strategies at the next session.

The working version of the National Cybersecurity Strategy of the Republic of Macedonia was presented last month by the Minister of Information Society and Administration Damjan Manchevski, the Ministress of Defence Radmila Šekerinska and the Minister of Internal Affairs Oliver Spasovski.
